Kanye West (who goes by Ye) has been on a rampage on X (formerly Twitter) lately. The rapper and record producer has spent the last few days posting incredibly offensive material to his X account. As of this morning, it looks like West’s account has been deactivated, with a “This account doesn’t exist” message on his main page.
However, it doesn’t appear that West was banned. Rather, it looks like he deactivated the account himself. The choice to close the account came after West spent the better part of Sunday ranting about everything from Taylor Swift to Diddy to antisemitism to admitting that he has “hit women” in the past.
One of West’s final tweets read: “I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon [Musk] for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board. It was like an Ayahuasca trip.”
The spree of offensive tweets began late last week, when West began to post a number of homophobic and misogynistic comments. In one tweet, West admitted to being a nazi. Allegedly, West was also posting pornography to the platform. X at the very least took action on that front and marked the account NSFW.

The decision to mark the account as NSFW came after a conservative podcaster called for West’s account to be banned “because he’s posting literal porn on the timeline.”
Elon Musk, who owns X, responded to the controversy by saying West’s account had been marked NSFW. West deactivated the account shortly after.
Kanye West Also Purchased Airtime During the Super Bowl
Amidst West’s X spree of controversial content, a Yeezy commercial also made its way to the Super Bowl on Sunday. The clip is, for lack of a better word, bizarre. It was apparently shot with an iPhone and featured the rapper in a dentist’s chair, where he asked viewers to go visit his website. The website in question is selling just one item: A T-shirt with a hate symbol on it. The commercial was not seen nationally but was aired in Los Angeles.
West was previously banned from X in 2022 for a similar string of hateful posts that were antisemitic in nature. He was banned shortly after, but his account was reinstated less than a year later.
