Second car in 3 months crashes into roof of Missouri veterans hall

For the second time this year, a car has crashed through the roof of the Clay-Ray Veterans Hall in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Excelsior Springs police were called to the Clay-Ray Veterans Hall at about 7:20 a.m. Wednesday for reports of a crash. When they arrived, it was reported that the car had crashed through the roof of the building, and the engine was lying in the front yard.

Police said one person, the driver, was taken to a hospital. However, their condition is unknown. Nobody was in the building at the time of the crash.

This marks the second time since February that a car drove into the roof of the Veterans Hall.

The last time a motorist crashed through the roof of the building was in the early morning hours of Saturday, Feb. 15. As previously reported, a 22-year-old Olathe man crashed into the building while speeding from police after they tried to pull him over for a traffic violation.

Nobody was in the building during this incident, either. But three people were inside the car, including the 22-year-old driver, who had non-life-threatening injuries, and two teenage girls, who suffered serious injuries.

Police told Nexstar’s WDAF that the roof had just been repaired and that they do not know what caused this recent crash.
