President Donald Trump is sparking concern about his health again after a recent interview.
Trump sat down with Bret Baier for a FOX interview ahead of the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana. He touched on several topics, including Elon Musk and DOGE. He praised the billionaire for his attempt to slash federal spending.
He also opened up about Canada, and his recent comments on the nation becoming a 51st state . Baier asked Trump about a recent moment where Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was caught on a hot mic speaking about the legitimacy of Trump’s claims . He said it’s a “real thing,” as the US wants to go after Canada’s natural resources.
Trump responded that Canada would be “much better off” as a US state.
The president said in the interview: “We lose $200 billion a year with Canada, and I’m not going to let that happen. It’s too much. Why are we paying $200 billion a year essentially in subsidy to Canada?”
He continued: “If they’re a 51st state, I don’t mind doing it.”
Trump did not specify what that $200 billion figure is referring to. According to CNN , it’s likely mostly made up of the US defense spending, which Canada benefits from, and a trade deficit between the US and Canada.
In response to the comments, some people questioned his sanity.
One user wrote: “ Donald Trump is a demented moron with a personality disorder. I am not sure what is wrong with his supporters.”
Questions about the 78-year-old’s mental wellbeing were also brought up on the campaign trail. During the presidential debate against former Vice President Kamala Harris, the public has become increasingly concerned with Trump’s cognitive health.
Even his own nephew, Fred Trump III, spoke out, pointing out worrying signs of dementia in his uncle.
