Trouble in Heaven? Elon Musk plunges the knife, slams President Trump’s latest Plan – His words

They used to be on the same team. Now, Elon Musk is raising eyebrows, and questions, with a late-night post calling out a signature spending plan backed by Donald Trump.

At 2am Wednesday, Musk posted to his 220 million followers:

“This immense level of overspending will drive America into debt slavery.”

The comment marked a surprising moment in their long (and at times friendly) history.

From Advisers to Opposite Ends

Musk once held an official role under Trump, advising on government efficiency, and often voiced alignment with MAGA priorities.
But this week, he described Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” as:

“A disgusting abomination.”

And added:

“Shame on those who voted for it. You know you did wrong.”

Coming from Musk, who remains highly respected in tech and among many conservative voters, it was a moment that caught many off guard.

Allies React, Lines Blur

Even Marjorie Taylor Greene, a close Trump ally, expressed second thoughts after learning the bill included a 10-year ban on state-level AI regulation — something Musk has consistently opposed.

“I am adamantly opposed to this,” Greene said.
“If that clause stays, I’ll work to reverse my vote.”

Musk’s posts echoed her concern, adding to the sense that the bill’s contents may not have been fully understood before the vote.

Fiscal Conservatives Join In

Senator Rand Paul also weighed in, calling the bill “fiscally irresponsible.” Musk reposted Paul’s remarks and added his own warning:

“If the massive deficit spending continues, there will only be money for interest payments and nothing else. No Social Security, no medical, no defense… nothing.”

What’s Going On?

This isn’t an all-out feud.
But it is a rare public disagreement between two of the most influential figures on the right.

Whether it signals a deeper ideological shift or just a tactical rift, one thing is clear:

It’s not every day Elon Musk publicly pushes back on Trump.
