Now, investigators are working to uncover what caused this heartbreaking and mysterious loss.
Investigators remain baffled by the sudden deaths of 20-year-old Courtney and 28-year-old Cameron Hulet. As they await toxicology and autopsy results, the exact cause remains unknown. “It’s really a puzzle,” Dundee Village Manager Dave Uhl told the Monroe Evening News. “There is no indication as to what happened. It’s a mystery.”
According to police, Cameron was found lying on his side, while Courtney was discovered face-down at the kitchen table. Nearby, authorities uncovered a pound of marijuana, appearing to be in the middle of being divided, hinting at possible distribution activity.
Despite this, the couple’s dinner remained untouched, and law enforcement found no signs of forced entry, trauma, or any indication that a third party was involved. Police have ruled out immediate foul play. Chief Todd revealed that Child Protective Services had recently removed two young children from the Hulets’ home, where they had lived for just six weeks.
Reports also note Cameron’s criminal record includes prior marijuana possession and assault charges, adding another layer to an already complex case.
